Danny Wilson has revealed there has been an impressive response in training from Cardiff Blues following an edgy victory over Zebre.
Wales’ Capital Region face Leinster in a mouth-watering Guinness PRO12 clash at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday and go into the encounter on the back of four consecutive wins.
It is the best start to a season the region have made but elements of the performance in Parma were disappointing.
However Wilson is delighted with the unbeaten start to the season and he has been pleased with the way the Blues have addressed training this week.
He said: “Results-wise it is really pleasing and the performances have been really good.
“We have beaten big sides already and we have won on the road which was something we struggled to do last year.
“We won a couple of derbies away from home last season but we only beat Edinburgh away properly. We have already beat Munster and Zebre away and that shows the progress we have made.
“There will be blips in the road but we have to make sure we weather those, move on and bounce back.
“I don’t necessarily count Zebre as that, parts were, but we have already bounced back in training and put those areas right and we look forward to a big encounter on Saturday.”
The Cardiff Blues head coach expects a formidable challenge from Leinster but he is hoping home advantage can make all the difference.
He has paid tribute to the 8,024 that turned out against Glasgow Warriors two weeks ago and he is hopeful it will be another loud crowd on Saturday night.
Wilson added: “It was a massive help. The extra one per-cents people talk about to help you win a game of rugby, that is certainly one and it probably counts for more than one per cent.
“It was a really passionate crowd on the night. The boys love playing in front of a vibrant, passionate Cardiff Blues support on our home pitch and hopefully that will be the same on Saturday night because it certainly makes a difference.”
