Wickes help Blues get ready for big kick-off

27th August 2014

The final preparations are underway for an exciting new season at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park - and guests can look forward to a fresh new-look in our West Stand thanks to Wickes in Cardiff.

The corridors around the West Boxes at the home of the Blues have been given a fantastic summer overhaul after Wickes this week kindly offered staff and equipment as part of its work in the local community.

Ross Heath, Store Manager at Wickes in Penarth, Cardiff said: “We try to do as much work in the local community as we can and we’ve been doing it for the last couple of years. We feel it is our responsibility as a business to go out and help when we can.

“We see Cardiff Blues as absolutely central to the local community and so thought we would get involved at the stadium and offer our help in the close season.

“We’ve been busy painting corridors and working long hours to get it done ahead of the big kick-off. The staff have really enjoyed coming down the stadium, with many coming in on their days off or arriving extra early and working late.

“The majority of the store staff are also big fans of Cardiff Blues so more than happy to help the region get ready for the season ahead and we wish the team the very best of luck.”

Matthew Church, Sponsorship Manager at Blues, added: “The off season is always a very busy period for us at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and we were delighted to take up the offer of help from Wickes. The staff from Wickes were fantastic and worked around the clock to get work done.

“The West Stand has been improved for guests ahead of the new season and we’re all now looking forward to our big league opener with Glasgow Warriors in the Guinness PRO12 on Sunday, September 14.”
