Warburton set to have shoulder surgery

18th March 2014

Back row Sam Warburton is to miss the rest of the season with Cardiff Blues as he prepares to have shoulder surgery in the coming week.

The Cardiff Blues flanker dislocated his shoulder in the closing moments of Wales’ victory over Scotland in the 6 Nations at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Following MRI scans and consultations with specialists, Warburton will have an operation and is expected to miss several months of action.

He joins regional team-mate Leigh Halfpenny on the sidelines, after the full back had successful surgery on his shoulder last week.

Everybody at Cardiff Blues wishes Sam and Leigh all the best during their rehabilitation.
