Ceri Sweeney is set to play his last match at the Arms Park this season and the Blues fly half has nothing but fond memories of his time with the Blues
Speaking at the Blues training ground Sweeney said,
“The obvious highlights from my time at the Blues was winning the Amlin Cup against Toulon in Marseille and the EDF Cup in Twickenham against Gloucester.
“They were both great occasions and something that I’ll remember for a long time.
‘In fairness to the Blues crowd they are probably the most intelligent crowd I’ve played in front of and they understand that if we are having a bad game it’s not intentional.
“They understand where we are at this moment in time, with the changes in the squad. They’ve been very supportive to me over the years and I’ll take fond memories with me when I leave.
“It will be a sad occasion for me in many ways on Saturday but I’m moving to Exeter in the summer, which is exciting
“I’ve always made decisions on my rugby career rather than financial gain.
“I would have liked to have played a bit more if anything, but saying that I’ve played over 100 games, but I just want to play every week – that’s the type of player I am.”
Speaking of the departing fly half Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby Phil Davies added,
“What Ceri has done for Pontypridd and for the region has been exceptional.
“He’s a great professional and a great influence on people here and we will miss him.
“Hopefully he will go out with a bang on Saturday and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the Blues and all the support he’s shown me this season.”
