State of Play: Two games to define a season

First Team News | 9th April 2019

Only two games remain in the Guinness PRO14 campaign, and Cardiff Blues have a season-defining run-in as they take on their Conference A rivals in the race for a top three finish.

John Mulvihill's side came away empty handed from Cork last week, despite an encouraging performance, and Connacht's victory over Zebre saw the Galway-based outfit edge four points ahead.

Ospreys also came back into contention after an impressive bonus point over Toyota Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, and are now within three points of Cardiff Blues, and it's set to be a mouth-watering sprint finish to the campaign.

Mulvihill travel to the Sportsground looking to make up ground on Connacht, before going toe-to-toe with Ospreys at Judgement Day in Principality Stadium.

As it currently stands, fourth-placed Cardiff Blues would head into a European qualification play-off, hosting Conference B counterparts, Edinburgh.

Connacht will finish their campaign with an away trip to Munster, who are chasing top spot in Conference A, while Ospreys take on Isuzu Southern Kings in the next round of Guinness PRO14 action.
