Lewis eager to hook even more action

27th January 2016

Young hooker Ethan Lewis believes the young guns at Cardiff Blues can produce during the 6 Nations period - as he looks to continue his eye-catching season.

Academy product Lewis, 21, has enjoyed a fantastic season at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and has now made 12 senior appearances – including a first try last week in the 12-try mauling of Rugby Calvisano.

Next up for Cardiff Blues is a Guinness PRO12 clash with Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 5.15pm).

And Lewis believe many of the rising stars in the squad will be eager to produce will nine players are away on international duty with Wales.

“Edinburgh have got a strong pack, good set piece at the scrum and lineout. They also have some dangerous backs we have got to try and keep under wraps - it should be a good game,” said Lewis.

“Both teams have got players away with Wales and Scotland. It’s obviously a loss with the internationals away, but boys come in and want to show they can do a job.

“I’m sure all the young players, like myself, will want to prove that to Danny (Wilson) and this is the time to put our hands up.

“It’s good for the environment we are creating here, the competition, and you want to give Danny a few headaches when it comes to selections.”
