Leading law firm backs the Blues

28th August 2013

Cardiff and London law firm, Capital Law, has been unveiled as an official Cardiff Blues shirt sponsor for the new season.

The kit sponsorship follows the firm’s June appointment as the official legal partner of the regional rugby side. The deal reinforces Capital Law’s credentials as legal advisors of choice for sports organisations in Wales, further to their selection to provide a full range of commercial legal services to Cardiff City Football Club in March this year.

As part of the three year deal with Cardiff Blues, Capital Law will provide the club with a wide array of commercial legal services, including advice on corporate structures, commercial agreements (such as sponsorship, merchandising and trademarking arrangements), dispute resolution, employment contracts, commercial property, intellectual property and media law.

The legal offering is supported by the expertise of their consultancy and training business, Consult Capital, which specialises in health and safety, HR consultancy, occupational health and management and leadership training.

Capital Law’s Sion Clwyd Roberts, who will be managing the relationships with both clubs, said: “We’re very excited that the new rugby season is now upon us, and we’re thrilled to have the Capital Law brand on Cardiff Blues shirts. It’s great that we’re now working with two of Wales’ top sports clubs, both of which are equally ambitious and keen to progress domestically and abroad. We genuinely hope that we will be able to contribute in some small way to both teams’ success by supporting their off the field management in any way we can.”

Capital’s team has a strong sports industry background, having worked with the International Rugby Board, the FA, Football Association Wales, British Boxing Board, Glamorgan Cricket, the World Rally Championship and Cardiff Devils.

Sion continues: “It’s going to be a very exciting season for the Blues. Their new high tech playing surface will help them to play the kind of expansive, free flowing game that rugby fans will relish, even when the winter weather conditions are less than ideal. With some experienced new signings, including the solid foundation an international front row will bring, as well as a great crop of youngsters coming through their Academy, the Blues have created a strong platform for success and we’re really going to enjoy working with them.”

Richard Holland, Cardiff Blues’ Chief Executive, says: “we’ve known Capital Law for quite some time, and we like the way they work. There are several areas we’re looking forward to them helping us with, and hopefully our association will contribute to the continued growth of their brand too.”
