Cardiff Blues academy's Callun James made his Wales Sevens debut at the Los Angeles Sevens over the weekend.

The former Coleg y Cymoedd captain was one of four debutants for Wales at the latest leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, alongside Callum Carson, Caine Woolerton and Alex Gray.

The back row made his first appearance from the bench during the opening pool stage match against New Zealand, who would go on to claim third place in the tournament following a victory over Australia in the bronze final.

A number of former Cardiff Blues players featured in the form of Ben Roach, Jay Jones, Dafydd Smith and Will Thomas.

Wales finished in 14th place after a defeat to Kenya in the final match of the weekend, but will now turn their attention to this week's leg in Vancouver.
