Halfpenny ready for return to Aviva

4th April 2012

Blues and Wales Grand Slam hero Leigh Halfpenny is ready to face the Heineken Cup champions on their own patch

Speaking at the Blues training centre Halfpenny said,

“We have to do the basics well and keep things simple.”

“If we win ball at our set piece we can launch our play from that.”

“We’ve got some big ball carriers and our defence has to be spot on and better than ever. Most games are won by defence these days.”

“We’ve looked at different aspects and the breakdown is another area that Leinster are strong at.”

“However, the players we have coming back have a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge.”

“They have all been there and done, it so it will be good to have them back.”

“A lot of the Leinster players are in the Irish team so it will feel like home to them in the Aviva Stadium, but we have to go there and go out and do the same as we did with Wales.”

“We have to run hard and make sure we are competing at the breakdown and take points when we are given the chance.”

“Many of the Blues players have played there and know it will be a packed stadium.”

“We have to create our own atmosphere as I’m sure it will be very loud there.”

“This game is our biggest of the season and you don’t need any more motivation than a quarter final in the Heineken Cup in a packed stadium.”
