Former Lions team-mates set for blockbuster Six Nations event at CAP

5th February 2019

Former British and Irish Lions and Wasps team-mates, Simon Shaw and Andy Powell, are set to be reunited at Cardiff Arms Park's Heineken Marquee, as their former international sides go head-to-head in a mouth-watering Guinness Six Nations clash on Saturday, February 23.

Join Cardiff Blues for a fantastic afternoon of hospitality in the shadow of the Principality Stadium, as Warren Gatland’s Wales welcome Eddie Jones’ England to the Welsh capital for a fiery third round encounter.

Ruling the roost on the bulldozing duo will be Capital FM host, Polly James, who will also be appearing on the decks later in the evening.

Both Shaw and Powell have plenty of behind-the-scenes tales from their glistening careers, and will also lift the lid on their experience and stories of the fierce rivalry between Wales and England.

Former Cardiff Blues back row, Powell, won 23 caps on the international stage, and toured South Africa with the Lions in 2009.

The Brecon-born star, who is infamously remembered for his golf buggy trip down the M4, also enjoyed stints at some of Europe’s leading clubs including Wasps, Sale Sharks, Scarlets and rugby league outfit, Wigan Warriors.

Shaw’s professional career spanned more than 20 years, with the lock representing Bristol, Wasps and Toulon and picking up 71 caps for England.

He went on tour with the Lions in 2005 and 2009 and featured in England’s Rugby World Cup squad in 2003, 2007 and 2011.
