EFFECTIVE Communication has been supporting and advising the Blues for more than four years on how it communicates with its fans, and other key stakeholders, such as the new Cardiff Blues Business Club.

The rapidly changing media landscape and the evolving tools we all use to access sports news means the right communications strategy has never been so critical.

Match reports are instant, fans’ views are even quicker (!) and we have worked hard with the Blues to ensure that they talk and inform stakeholders about their activities both on and off the pitch.

In recent years, the Blues have developed fans’ forums, e-newsletters, social media channels, as well as continuing to use the traditional local media, such as the Echo, Mail, BBC and ITV.

Effective Communication managing director Alastair Milburn said: “Any of us who are passionate about sport want our news quickly and easily. Social media, smart phones and the internet are fantastic channels to achieve this, but you are also fighting in a very crowded marketplace.

“We work with the Blues to try and cut through all that noise, ensuring that Blues stakeholders, and especially their fans, are kept informed about developments, and crucially, that they in turn have access back again, to give their own feedback.”

Gwydion Griffiths, Cardiff Blues Press & Communications Manager said, "Effective Communication continue to provide valuable advice to Cardiff Blues on the best way to implement their communication strategy and have done so for a number of years.”

“In addition we have also used their vast network of contacts to help get our message across through channels we may have not previously used.”

“We are kept up to date with constantly evolving trends and how these can benefit us in keeping our supporters informed on a variety of topics.”
