David Young Statement

9th May 2006

David Young Director of Coaching Cardiff Blues has today confirmed that despite recent press speculation he remains as committed as ever to continuing the improvement of the regional team and will not be leaving the Cardiff Blues.

David Young said, “I have been Coach here for four years and helped steer the Blues through some testing times but I feel that my work here is not finished. It is a job I would like to see through to the end and help bring some success on the field for the fans. I have been at the Arms Park for twelve seasons as both player and coach and it would never be easy for me to leave.

I feel we’ve made big strides on the field this season which has been matched by some massive strides off the field with the excellent work within our region.

I have always had tremendous support from Robert Norster and Peter Thomas as well as my coaching team of Rob Howley, Richard Webster, Dan Baugh and Trystan Bevan as well great loyalty and commitment from the players.

We all know next year will not be any easier but we are all looking forward to the challenges ahead with confidence and determination, however our focus now is winning our last two matches against Leinster and Munster.”
