Cardiff Blues centre Dafydd Hewitt has been called up to train with the Welsh squad this week.

Hewitt has been one of the most consistent players for Cardiff Blues this season. The hard tackling centre started his rugby career at Llantiwt Major RFC before joining Cardiff at the start of the 2004-05 season.

In January 2006 he made his debut for the Blues against Edinburgh, and that summer he captained Wales in the IRB Under-21 World Cup tournament in France before returning home for surgery after fracturing his cheekbone and eye socket against Argentina.

Injured centre Jonathan Davies, who sustained ankle ligament damage in training last week, has now withdrawn from the Wales squad.
