Coach delight as young stars shine bright

29th February 2016

Boss Danny Wilson praised the contribution of young stars Brad Thyer and Tomos Williams as they both shone on their full Guinness PRO12 debuts.

Prop Thyer and scrum half Williams both started league games for Cardiff Blues for the first time and helped the region claim a vital 23-13 victory over Ulster Rugby at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

Academy product Thyer was part of a powered packed performance from the forwards while former Wales Under-20s ace Williams added spark to the back line.

“I was really pleased for Brad (Thyer),” said Wilson. “He played 70 minutes on the loosehead side and as a young lad, the way he performed was excellent.

“Scrum dominance was a big part of the game and we got some penalties with both front rows going well.

“Tomos (Williams) had a good game as well,” he added. “He got our rugby going and brought some real tempo to us.

“Overall he had a great full debut and it’s great for both players to be handed a first senior start and help secure a win.”
