Cardiff Blues Under-16s claim victories

25th February 2016

Cardiff Blues Under-16s North and South both chalked up impressive victories in the Regional Age Grade Championships on Wednesday night.

Flanker Kyle Evans grabbed a brace of tries as Cardiff Blues Under-16s North crossed the whitewash six times to record a 34-14 win over Scarlets West Under-16s at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

A dominant first half display saw Evans (2), fly half Rhys Davies, wing Bobby Jo Evans and Number Eight Carwyn Owen all score as Blues opened up a 27-0 lead.

The second half saw an impressive fight-back from Scarlets, with Gethin Davies and Tom Carrington scoring.

But the final word went to the home side as replacement lock Cian Lewis Hughes crashed over.

Cardiff Blues Under-16s South were involved in an entertaining clash with Dragons Under-16s North at Ystrad Mynach before emerging 17-14 winners.

The visitors led 5-0 at the break courtesy of a try from William Young before full back Ioan Davies extended the lead three minutes after the break.

Replacement scrum half Morgan James nudged Blues further ahead and despite a response from Dragons back rower Taine Basham it was the visitors that took the spoils.
