Cardiff Blues Ultimate XV | Right wing

First Team News | 16th April 2020

It's the penultimate day of our Cardiff Blues Ultimate XV and we turn attention to the left wing. Who takes one of the last remaining places in our dream team? You decide!

Alex Cuthbert (2011-2018 | 115 appearances | 46 tries | 47 caps for Wales | 1 cap for British and Irish Lions)

Alex Cuthbert burst onto the regional scene and quickly established himself as one of the finest finishers in the northern hemisphere. The academy graduate was a predator around the whitewash and proved his quality on both regional and international level. An extremely popular squad member, Cuthbert remains second on the all-time try scorer list. His tries in Championship deciders steered Wales to two Six Nations titles and he's also scored a Test try for British and Irish Lions in Australia.

Owen Lane (2016-present | 47 appearances | 23 tries | 2 caps for Wales)

Another player who seemingly came from nowhere, Owen Lane has already made a big impact in his young career. The wing, who has an impressive combination of pace and power, has a try scoring record which clocks in at almost a try in every other game. The exciting prospect, who was a life-long Cardiff Blues fan, has already racked up some unforgettable memories in his home region’s jersey and made his international debut for Wales last summer.

Blaine Scully (2015-2019 | 52 appearances | 12 tries | 54 caps for USA)

Captain America. Blaine Scully became a true cult hero during his time at Cardiff Blues. The wing will mostly remembered by his tries against Scarlets, an acrobatic effort which won the Ty of the Season in 2017, and Gloucester, which proved pivotal in the 2018 Challenge Cup final in Bilbao. Scully was a solid in all aspects of his game and was a hard-working and dependable wing who won the hearts of the Arms Park faithful with his passion and commitment.

Aled Summerhill (2014-present | 61 appearances | 25 tries)

Aled Summerhill is yet to experience international rugby, but his try-scoring record remains amongst the finest in Wales. The rapid wing is a predator when it comes to scoring tires, and has racked up an impressive 25 tries in 61 appearances. Academy graduate Summerhill has already bagged a regional hat-trick and he enjoyed his finest campaign to date last year, scoring 10 tries in 15 appearances.
