Cardiff Blues start their Heineken Cup campaign with an away match at Exeter before welcoming Champions Toulon to the Arms Park in round two
Cardiff Blues Director of rugby Phil Davies said,
“The fixtures do matter as you could argue that you start with a home match and hopefully a win and you build some momentum
“Europe is all about winning your home games and trying to pick up some points on the road.
“There will be a lot of pressure on Exeter to get a home win to start the campaign but for us it’s a huge challenge to go away and pick something up in that game. If we do, it will be a real bonus and confidence booster going into the Toulon match game at home.
“We know what we have to do at Exeter. They are a big physical team with a good kicking game and a dead eye outside half who kicks penalties.
“We know the challenge that Toulon will present being the Heineken Cup champions.
“Glasgow and Exeter have also both developed real pedigree in their respective leagues so it’s a tough pool.”
