Cardiff Blues' community team are proud to announce a brand new Foundation Degree, which is ran in conjunction with Welsh Rugby Union and University of South Wales.
The Foundation Degree provides an unique opportunity for students enrolled at the University of South Wales to work towards a degree, whilst gaining valuable vocational experience and enhancing their employability skills.
On completion of the two year Foundation Degree course, there is an option for students to complete a third year of studies in order to achieve a BSc (Hons) degree in Rugby Coaching and Performance.
The course is designed for individuals who wish to work in the ever-expanding rugby industry, whether this is as a coach, or as a member of staff working within communities developing and delivering initiatives.
The course also allows students to study all sub-disciplines of coaching and gain valuable industry-recognised qualifications.
The course will teach students aspects of generic children and youth coaching, rugby coaching, rugby development, social inclusion and sport management skills.
There will also be further opportunities for students to enhance their knowledge with an extensive work-based learning programme provided by the club, working within specific roles and delivering rugby projects.
The degree is endorsed by Sports Coach UK, highlighting that the course meets industry standards and requirements, giving students an advantage when seeking employment. Students can develop their coaching profile through working towards the Welsh Rugby Union Level 1 and Level 2 coaching certificate.
Cardiff Blues’ community manager, Nadine Griffiths, is delighted to announce the project and is looking forward to September’s launch.
