Campese touches down for the Blues

26th July 2012

The Blues welcomed their latest new signing with the arrival of Fijian international Campese Ma'afu

Having landed late last week, the big prop forward was part of the squad that attended a conditioning session at the Royal Welsh Show on Wednesday. Speaking at the Blues Stall, Ma’afu said,

“I’m still trying to settle and adjust my body clock after the jet lag, because of the time difference between here and Australia.”

“I landed early Friday at about 5am and I’m just starting to get used to it, so am feeling a lot fresher.”

Commenting on his visit to the Showground Ma’afu added,

“We’ve come as a squad to this event so it’s been good to spend some time with my new team mates.”

“The session we just did was pretty intense, but it’s what I expected as I knew the squad would be having a hard pre season.”

“However, it’s been good to meet some of the fans also.”

The Fijian international who played his rugby in Australia has been impressed with what he’s seen so far and is looking forward to testing himself in the RaboDirect PRO12.

“I’ve been to the training centre and it’s awesome, so it’s great to be here and I’m looking forward to playing.”

“I’ve been given a great opportunity to play for the Cardiff Blues and I know all the teams in the league take the competition very seriously.”

“I’m sure it will be tough but I want to test myself.”
