Head Coach Danny Wilson insists Cardiff Blues can build on the performances against the Irish provinces on the road.
Cardiff Blues took a losing bonus point from the Guinness PRO12 game with Ulster Rugby with a try from skipper Josh Navidi and late penalty from Rhys Patchell capping a second half fight-back.
Wilson’s men have now completed four successive trips over to Ireland with games against Leinster, Connacht, Munster and Ulster.
And while a win has eluded Cardiff Blues, the manner of the displays has left Wilson full of heart for the campaign ahead.
“We’ve gone close in all four games. We lost two games by seven points, against Ulster and Connacht, and two games by eight points, against Munster and Leinster,” he said.
“To be losing by seven or eight points consistently out here against the Irish provinces, in this current period, is something we have to look to build on.
“It’s not a positive in that we are not happy losing games. We were hoping to get at least one win out of these games and we haven’t achieved that.
“But what we can do is now build on the performances over in Ireland and the attitude the players have shown.”
Cardiff Blues now face a final away trip to Italy to tackle Zebre next Saturday before some home comforts with champions Glasgow Warriors at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on November 7.
“We’ve got another away game against Zebre and that will be a game we will need to target to get a win,” he added.
“Then we finally get a home game which will be pleasing and something these boys deserve after a huge amount of travel early on in the season.”
