Blues Under 20s Claim Victory over Worcester

Cardiff Blues under 20s started their season with a friendly last night against a combined Worcester University and Droitwich RFC team.

Worcester University competes in the same BUSA league as the renowned Loughbrough University, so are no pushovers, however the Blues ran out comfortable winners with a 48-15 win.

The team ran in eight tries on the night, with five being scored by Wing Jack Bird. On a night when the squad all had a chance to impress, Bird's contribution to the team's final score was 27 points, his display of fantastic finishing was boosted with a conversion as well.

Regional Performance Manager Gafyn Cooper said, "It was a good opportunity for the coaches to cast their eye over certain players and combinations before selection against the Dragons in the championship."

The Blues begin the WRU Championship season proper on Wednesday 28th September against the Dragons at Abertillery RFC (kick off 7.15pm) and will start the competition with confidence and in high spirits following this win.
