Blues supporters enjoy the return to Arms

16th August 2012

There was a great atmosphere at the Arms Park on Saturday for the first home game of the season

Over 4,500 supporters turned up to enjoy the sunshine and watch an entertaining game that saw the Blues put in a spirited display against a strong Worcester side.

There was an unusual look to the ground with the branding being moved because of the Olympic football matches being played at the Millennium Stadium.

However, the branding for the new Heineken Fanzone is now being put up and we look forward to welcoming supporters there for our first league match in September. We have taken on board the feedback from supporters regarding the bar areas and toilets and thank them for their constructive comments.

Cardiff Blues would like to reassure all Cardiff Athletic Club members that all members will be able to use the Members Bar downstairs in the clubhouse on the day. Opening hours during the Worcester match were restricted due to health and safety but we will be resuming normal opening hours going forward. There were incidents on Saturday of members trying to enter the Clubhouse who had not renewed their membership. We urge all members who have not renewed their membership to do so by calling the Ticketing Team on 029 2030 2030 before the start of the season.

Supporters on the north side of the ground are reminded that they are able to use the Martyn Williams Pack Bar which is an indoor bar area behind the Family Stand.

Sarah Hopkins the Chair of Cardiff Blues Supporters' Club said.

“It was great to see so many supporters out in force at the Arms Park for the first game of the pre-season.

“The move back had been eagerly anticipated and the sunshine came out in its honour.

“People took the opportunity to have a good look at the work being done at the ground and, provided feedback to CBSC which has already been passed through to the Blues Management for consideration.

“Despite some teething problems, supporters were delighted at the progress being made and look forward to seeing the finished Fanzone for the first home game in September.”
