Blues pay tribute to Peter Nyhan

7th April 2015

Cardiff Blues was today saddened to hear the news that former Cardiff RFC player and Chairman Peter Nyhan has passed away.

Born in Cardiff in 1930, Peter was educated at St David's Elementary School and St Illtyd's and played three seasons for Old Illtydians before joining Cardiff in September 1954, making his debut for the Athletic XV against Barry.

Peter played 34 games at centre for Cardiff RFC, scoring 10 tries, and 191 games for the Athletic XV between 1954 and 1962. He was captain of the Athletic XV in 1957/58 and 1958/59.

He later served on the rugby committee and was the Chairman in 1972/73 before becoming programme editor for 10 years, keeping match records, taking on the assistant manager role for the tour to Canada in 1986 and also being a Vice President of the club.

Peter will be sadly missed by all and our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.
