Blues North and Blues South U16 run riot during key victories

A total of 15 tries were scored by Cardiff Blues' age grade sides last night, as both Blues North and Blues South picked up important victories in the WRU U16 Regional Age Grade Championship.

Blues South crossed the whitewash nine times during their 53-5 thrashing of Dragons North at Cardiff Arms Park, while Blues North racked up six tries during their 38-5 away victory over Ospreys West at The Gnoll.

It only took five minutes for Blues North to get on the scoresheet, as wing Morgan Biggins scored the first of his two tries of the evening.

Furhter tries from Cavan Davies, Rhys Anstey and Harrison Chapman, as well as two conversions from the boot of Josh Phillips, saw the young Blues side lead by 24 points within the first 40 minutes.

Rhys Thomas and Morgan Biggins crossed later in the game, with Tyler Morris successful with two conversion attempts of his own, stretching his side's lead to 38 points.

Replacement Llyr Davies gave Ospreys West a consolation score in the late stages of the game.

Blues South 53 Dragons North 5

Evan Lloyd's try was the only score during the first half at Cardiff Arms Park, but the Blues South side ran riot during the second half against Dragons North.

Tries from Anthony Price, Marvin Hutchings, a double from inside centre Rhys Gentles and a Jamie Howells conversion saw the home side build up a 27 point lead.

The visitors looked to bounce back through a Lewis Bates try, but the hosts soon regained their dominance as Oliver James touched down on the hour. Gethin Rosser's conversion made it 34-5.

Replacement Benji Williams was next on the scoresheet, securing a quick fire brace, before captain Lloyd also touched down for his second of the evening during the final play of the game.
