Allan and Nicky play a part for Cardiff Schools

24th January 2005

Cardiff Schools Rugby ‘A’ squad were treated to a coaching feast last week when Blues star, Nick Robinson was joined by Blues’ Team Manager Allan Lewis to deliver the team a training session.

The session came at a vital point in the under 15’s season as it was prior to their all important match with Pembroke in the Dewar shield. It must have been one hell of a coaching session as it proved the inspiration for a 34-0 victory.

Cardiff Blues Development Officer Gruff Rees attended the coaching session and was full of praise for what the youngsters took on board, “Alan and Nicky were superb with the boys, leading a great coaching session that was well received by the whole squad.

“It was a great motivation for all of the boys to train with Nick Robinson as he’s a former Cardiff Schools player and he’s now playing for the Blues. If it wasn’t for his illness this season he may have even been lining up for Wales when they face England in the Six Nations.

“As for Allan, his record speaks for itself. He’s coached some great clubs and has a wealth of experience as a player and a coach so his input to the session was invaluable.

“The evidence of Allan and Nicky’s work was there for all to see, a 34-0 victory over Pembroke!”

The players of Cardiff Schools ‘A’ and ‘B’ squad have all been given tickets for the Blues v Edinburgh Celtic League match which takes place at Cardiff Arms Park this Friday and will be hoping that the Blues can emulate their performance against Pembroke and move a step closer to securing a place in next season’s Heineken Cup.
