60 Second Interview with Nicky Robinson

13th October 2005

Cardiff blues .com recently caught up with Blues Fly Half Nick Robinson to find out some insights for our readers.

Question) When did you start playing rugby?

Nick Robinson: I started playing in secondary school at Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf, in Cardiff. I always played outside half and we had quite a good side. I remember we always had tough matches against Whitchurch High.

Q) Which game do you remember most?

NR: There are so many but one of my favourite games was against Newport early in my career. There was a great crowd and the atmosphere was amazing. I was a typical Welsh derby and I was fortunate to score a try and a couple of penalties, and we went on to win the game.

Q) Any tips for the young rugby players?

NR: I think it would be to work hard and play hard. I think it’s also important to take your chances when they come.

Q) Which sportsmen do you most admire?

NR: Ian Botham was my hero when I was growing up. He was an all rounder and a great cricketer. He was the type of player that could change a game and a real character. I don’t get to play much cricket these days but I do play in the occasional charity match.
