Dafydd Hewitt joined Cardiff from the Llantwit Major club at the start of the 2004-05 season and immediately made a big impresssion.
A skilful and creative midfield player he went on to play in 15 league and cup games and scored three tries. He fully deserved his eventual selection for the all-conquering Wales team in the under-21 Six Nations championship. Injuries and international calls -when he again shone for Wales Under-21s - limited his Blue & Black appearances in 2005-06 to 12 games but he still scored five tries.
Hewitt made his debut for the Blues against Edinburgh in January 2006 and later that summer captained Wales in the IRB Under-21 World Cup tournament in France.
In 2012 Hewitt was named as vice-captain of the Blues and he hit a memorable milestone in 2013 when he made his 100th appearance for Blues when they tackled Edinburgh in the PRO12 at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
