Lloyd Williams was selected in the Wales Under 20 squad for the 2009 IRB Junior World Championship after missing most of the season through injury. He performed well at the Japan tournament and was selected in October 2010 to receive one of the WRU’s core Sevens contracts. He represented Wales at all six of the IRB Sevens World Series tournaments, including beating Fiji in the Adelaide Cup quarter-final in March.
The former Cowbridge Comprehensive student, who is currently studying at UWIC, represented Wales at Under 16, 18 and 20’s and made his senior Blues debut against Leinster in Cardiff in March 2010.
In June 2011 he was called into the Wales national rugby union team 45 man training squad for the 2011 Rugby World Cup following the suspension of Mike Phillips. He made his full international debut versus Argentina on 20 August 2011 as a second-half replacement. Williams was part of Warren Gatland’s Grand Slam Champions team in 2012 and helped Wales to defend the Championship title in the 2013 Six Nations.
