Nick Macleod scored over 100 points for Cardiff under-21 in 2001-02 and was well on his way to repeating the feat in the following season only to be sidelined for five months with a shoulder injury. He had to be satisfied with a still impressive 76 points in six games and an appearance as a replacement for Wales under-21 against New Zealand.
When he did return to fitness in the spring of 2003 he was fast-tracked back into the senior team for whom he had first played against Cambridge University in November 2001. Nick was called up to the Welsh squad
Nick made his try scoring debut for the Blues against Glasgow in September 2003. A versatile player who has played outside half, inside centre and full back for the Cardiff Blues, Nick dropped a goal in the last minute of the match against Ulster to seal a win and kept the Blues in the Magners League title race.
