Jenkins, hailing form Llantwit Fardre, was educated at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive school in Beddau.
The front row forward started his career at Treorchy, switching to Pontypridd and Celtic Warriors before signing with the Blues in 2003 where he won the Amlin Challenge Cup and EDF Energy Cup.
After a spending the 2012/13 season with the French Top 14 outfit Toulon, where he won the Heineken Cup, Jenkins returned to the capital city side to partner his Lions colleague Matthew Rees in the Blues front three in 2013.
Wales’ most capped player, Jenkins became Wales’ 125th captain when he led the side against South Africa in 2007.
The Lions prop has taken part in all three recent Grand Slam wins in 2005, 2008 and 2012, in addition to leading his home nation to a Six Nations Championship victory in 2013 which saw Wales defeat England 30-3 at their home, the Millennium Stadium.
