Glasgow kicked off and enjoyed a period of territory in the Blues half, further assisted by tackle in the air by Cuthbert on Glasgow fullback Stuart Hogg, which resulted in a penalty been kicked to the corner. It was a scrappy start by the Blues, failing to gain any ground and putting themselves under pressure.

Eventually Glasgow turned their possession into points, following some good build up work. Hogg broke off a ruck and sprinted into the Blues twenty two, before drawing his man, and putting scrum half Colin Gregor in for the try. Weir converted.

However, the Blues got on the scoreboard in the 16th minute following a Glasgow infringement 40 yards out and midway through the first half the Blues started to enjoy a period of pressure and got their reward. From a ruck Ceri Sweeney put in a well weighted chip to the left where Gavin Evans gathered and passed inside for Laulala to score. Sweeney was wide with the conversion.

Despite what was looking like a promising period for the Bleus, Glasgow struck back instantly. From a scrum 40 metres out John Beattie gathered from the base and flipped the ball inside to James Eddie who ran in unopposed. Weir was again accurate with the extras.

It was a frustrating half for the Blues where some slack defence cost them dearly. It got worse when Lewis Jones was shown a yellow card after a period of pressure on the Blues try line. Weir stepped up to slot the penalty.

The second half started with a penalty for Sweeny following crossing by Glasgow from the restart, however, he hooked it just wide to the left. Things got worse for the Blues when on the 50th minute the Blues looked to spread the ball and Deiniol Jones telegraphed a pass that was intercepted by Tom Seymour who sprinted in to score. Weir again converted.

Despite a large crowd of schoolchildren, who had made the most of the Blues schools ticket offer, they failed to lift the team who were lacking accuracy in attack and were very slack in defence.

The Blues did manage to string an attack together when Rush crashed through midfield after they won clean line out ball. Eventually they worked it left where Glasgow were forced to concede a scrum five. However, again the Blues were penalised for collapsing the scrum. The Blues however did get the try from the next phase. Hogg's clearance kick was charged down by Sweeney and Paterson leapt the highest to gather the ball and crash over. Sweeney, again, was wide with his effort.

Glasgow added a further penalty on the 70th minute to bring the score to 13-27 and it finally looked as if the game was beyond the Blues. However, there was still enough time for Hogg to get the bonus point try for Glasgow and for Gregor to add the conversion.
