Age Grade Round-Up: Wins for Cardiff Blues sides

13th August 2018

While the senior side's campaign got underway against Leicester Tigers on Saturday, the age grade sides also worked on their own pre-season preparations, and doing it in style against their English opposition.

Cardiff Blues under-18 side started the new season under the guidance of new, full time professional staff members - Aled James and Craig Everett- who are supported by coaches Paul Mathews, Morgan Stoddart and current Cardiff Blues prop, Scott Andrews.

Their campaign kicked off with a trip to Franklin Gardens to take on their Northampton Saints counterparts.

It was a fruitful visit, as Cardiff Blues come away with a 28-0 victory, underpinned by a strong performance up front and some good finishing behind.

Tries were scored by Mason Grady, Cai Davies, Dafydd Thomas and Corben Evans with two conversations apiece for Jacob Beetham and Josh Phillips.

The under-16 South and under-16 North also started their campaigns with good performances, and victories, against Northampton Saints and Bristol Bears respectively.

The under-16 sides now move onto the WRU Super Series, which is held at Ystrad Mynach's Centre of Excellence on Wednesday, August 15.
