Pontyclun RFC lift first ever Under-15 Cardiff Blues Land Rover Cup

14th May 2018

Pontyclun RFC lifted the first ever Under-15 Cardiff Blues Land Rover Cup, following a thrilling finals day at Brecon RFC on Sunday.

Two days after the senior Cardiff Blues side clinched their second Challenge Cup in Bilbao, the next generation of regional players gathered in Brecon for a feast of rugby.

Organised in conjunction with the Welsh Rugby Union, spectators were treated to a full day of rugby, with Pontyclun and Treorchy qualifying for the cup final.

The Badgers raced to a two-try lead, but the Zebra's struck back to level the scores. However, with extra time looking inevitable, Pontyclun had the final word, as a late try secured the victory.

Meanwhile, Rumney were the plate winners after beating Abercwmboi in the final.

The finals for the Under-12, Under-13 and Under-14 competitions will take place on Sunday at Cardiff Arms Park, with the first game kicking off at 10.00am.
