Robinson turns attention to Benetton following Zebre win

26th February 2018

Olly Robinson has urged Cardiff Blues to finish their current block of fixtures with a bang against Benetton Rugby on Friday night (7.35pm).

The Blues went into this run of four consecutive Guinness PRO14 matches knowing it would make or break their Championship season and they have made the perfect start.

Following home victories over Toyota Cheetahs and Munster, they went on the road and ground out a 10-7 triumph over Zebre in sub-zero conditions.

Robinson picked up the Guinness man-of-the-match award following a fine performance in which the Blues forced a succession of turnovers, and he is determined to make it four from four.

The open-side flanker said: “It’s always nice to finish a block of four games with a big win so it’s important that we dust ourselves off and no one will say it was the perfect performance so we have to see where we can improve for Benetton.

“It was a hard-fought win and we knew it was going to be like that. Zebre don’t lose many games by big scores anymore and are a real quality side, who threw everything at us but the boys can be really proud of the defensive shift they put in.

“It shows where Italian rugby is going that they had a lot of boys away with the national side but can still come out and put in a performance like that.

“It was a really physical performance and we stood up really well to that. It’s a tough place to come, a tough pitch, a cold day and we’ve done really well to grind out a win.

“I always enjoy playing with another open-side and Josh Turnbull at eight, who has also played open-side.

“From one to 15 could have been man-of-the-match, one to 23, it was a great team performance and really enjoyable.”

Cardiff Blues take on Benetton Rugby at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday, March 2 (7.35pm). Tickets are available now and can be purchased by clicking here or calling 029 20 302030.
