Summerhill's Boxing Day derby score voted December Try of the Month

24th January 2018

Aled Summerhill's try against Dragons in the Boxing Day derby at Rodney Parade has been voted December's Try of the Month.

Summerhill's score faced competition from Rey Lee-Lo and Tom James, who crossed the whitewash in the same fixture, as well as Macauley Cook's try in the away defeat to Glasgow Warriors.

The try was created when Owen Lane latched onto an inside ball from Lee-Lo. The wing bumped off defender, Gavin Henson, before looking for Summerhill on his outside with an offload.

The ball did deflect off a defender, but Summerhill showed composure and excellent close control with his feet to touch down, despite pressure from the covering Cory Hill.

The shortlist can be viewed in the video below.
