'Come Early' safety scheme at city stadiums

16th September 2017

Cardiff Blues are encouraging fans to 'Come Early' on match days - as part of a new city-wide joint-initiative to increase spectator safety.

Staff from  Cardiff Arms Park recently joined forces with colleagues from the Principality Stadium, Cardiff City Stadium and the SSE SWALEC Stadium to review existing spectator safety and event day security arrangements.

Representatives from South Wales Police, the Welsh Extremist and Counter Terrorist Unit, the Sports Ground Safety Authority, and Cardiff City Council Safety Advisory Group also joined the discussions in what has been the most detailed joint review conducted within the capital.

tCardiff Arms Park is now pleased to confirm new match day safety measures - that will be adopted at venues across Cardiff - as we encourage fans to 'Come Early'.

Fans are now advised to:

  • 'Come Early' to avoid travel delays and for enhanced security checks on arrival.
  • Please leave large bags at home. We will now operate a bag check policy on all items.
  • Be prepared for other security checks by Safety Stewards e.g. complying with our 'Open-Coat' policy on entering the ground - please be prepared to be checked by stewards.

The objective of the new city-wide review at sporting venues is to keep Cardiff safe and, while there is no specific risk to the city, ensure the best operational practices are in place.
