Wilson excited for huge occasion at JDV

7th April 2017

Danny Wilson is anticipating a massive occasion at Principality Stadium next Saturday, where his side will take on Ospreys in Judgement Day V.

Wilson sat alongside Ospreys backs coach Gruff Rees Jones to promote the upcoming rugby spectacle, with more than 50,000 ticket already sold for the day.

Wilson insisted his side are fully focused on this weekend’s task against Ulster, but admits Judgement Day is the type of challenges that players are always motivated to be involved in.

“After Ulster we’ll have a turnaround into Judgement Day, which is a day that has been a huge success and I know the boys are extremely motivated to play the Ospreys here,” said Wilson.

“It doesn’t get bigger than that and will be one that we will build towards in the upcoming week.

“It’s obviously fantastic to play a derby and the Ospreys in the Principality Stadium in front of a huge crowd and a game you’d think everyone would be motivated to play in. Players, staff and everyone else involved. It’s a great occasion and is one we look forward to.

“It will be an exciting week with an exciting build-up, and I think we also look forward to seeing those head-to-heads, the internationals going up against each other and the rivalry a derby produces on any given day is fantastic.

“To have it in this stadium in front of a big crowd is great and long may it continue.

“Obviously these boys want to be playing rugby regularly, week in week out, but these are type of games with the feel of a cup final, a big day out and is the motivating factors of why boys play rugby and put in the hours.

“It’s great for boys hoping to go on summer tours, boys who wants to put last bids for Lions selection, and these derbies are the closest things, intensity wise, to international rugby and therefore a great judge for Robin McBryde and his staff ahead of the summer.”
