International focus: Warburton and Scully cross the whitewash

21st November 2016

Six Cardiff Blues players featured as Wales edged to a tense 33-30 victory over Japan on Saturday.

Sam Warburton captained the side, and crossed the whitewash during the second half for Wales' third try.

Outside half Gareth Anscombe played a key part in Wales’ opening try, as his pass fed Dan Lydiate in for an early score.

Lloyd Williams and Alex Cuthbert also featured in the starting line-up, with props Rhys Gill and Scott Andrews appearing off the bench.

Elsewhere, Blaine Scully also captained his country during USA’s final test of the November Tour against Tonga on Saturday.

The Eagles fell to a 20-17 loss to ‘Ikale Tahi, with Cam Dolan also featuring in the second row.

Rey Lee-Lo was named as centre as Samoa were defeated by Georgia in Tbilisi.

A try by Lee-Lo’s centre partner, George Pisi, gave Manu Samoa the lead in the first half, but The Lelos fought back, with a Merab Kvirikashvili penalty sealing the 20-16 victory.
