Anglo-Welsh Cup Final to be held at the Stoop

31st October 2016

Premiership Rugby have today confirmed that the final of the 2016-17 Anglo-Welsh Cup will be played at the Twickenham Stoop on Sunday 19 March.

The tournament pits the 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby sides against the four Welsh Regions, and returns after a one-year absence.

The teams have been drawn in four pools with the sides in Pool 1 playing the sides in Pool 4 and the teams in Pool 2 playing the teams in Pool 3 over four weekends.

Cardiff Blues’ Anglo Welsh Cup campaign will kick off on Sunday, 13 November, with an away clash to face Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park, followed by a home derby against Ospreys on Friday, 18 November.

Wales’ Capital Region will also go on to face Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors in the group stage. The opening clash against Exeter Chiefs will be televised live on BT Sport.

The Anglo Welsh Cup returns this year, after a hiatus in 2015/16 due to the Rugby World Cup. Cardiff Blues won the tournament back in 2008/09, beating Gloucester 50-12 in the final at Twickenham.

Tickets for the Cardiff Blues v Ospreys clash are on sale now.
