Cardiff Blues to host Bristol in pre-season

17th June 2016

Cardiff Blues will face newly promoted Aviva Premiership outfit Bristol in their home pre-season friendly.

Wales’ Capital Region will kick-off their summer schedule with a trip to face rivals Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade on Friday, August 12 (7.30pm kick-off).

They will then host Bristol at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, August 20, with the kick-off time to be confirmed at a later date, as they finalise their preparations for the Guinness PRO12.

The matches will give Danny Wilson the perfect opportunity to put his squad, which includes seven new signings, through their paces ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

Wilson said: “The two fixtures will give us a good opportunity to prepare for the new season and begin gelling a new group of players.

“It will be great to welcome Bristol to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, they achieved a lot last season and it will be a good test against a team preparing for life in the Aviva Premiership.”

The fixtures are a reverse of last season’s schedule, with Cardiff Blues beating Bristol but succumbing to Newport Gwent Dragons at home.

Both teams will be familiar to Wilson, who has enjoyed stints as forwards coach for both, while Bristol are gearing up for their return to the English top-flight.

Tickets for Cardiff Blues versus Bristol at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park will go on sale at a later date.
