Lee-Lo looks forward after finale win

8th May 2016

Rey Lee-Lo is relishing his second season with Cardiff Blues after producing a man-of-the-match performance in the Guinness PRO12 finale against Edinburgh.

The Samoan centre was a continuous threat with ball in hand at Murrayfield and scored a first half try as Wales’ Capital Region claimed a 21-17 victory.

It was the region’s 10th win in 14 league matches following seven consecutive losses at the beginning of the season.

That saw them climb to a much improved seventh in the final standings, with only the Scarlets higher from Wales.

And Lee-Lo is enthused about what lies ahead at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

He said: “I came in half way through the season and we have just kept going up and up, hopefully next season we can build even more.

“I can’t wait for next year, a good pre-season with the boys so I’m really looking forward to it.

“It’s my second year and with the other players coming in what we have signed we should be good. I’m really enjoying my time here.”

It was the proverbial game of two halves in the Scottish capital as Edinburgh initially dominated and went into the interval with a 17-7 lead.

However Danny Wilson’s half-time talk did the trick and it was one-way traffic in the second as Cam Dolan and Garyn Smith added to Lee-Lo’s first-half effort.

The Blues had to wait patiently for their breakthrough and Lee-Lo was thrilled to finish the season on a high.

He added: “After last week we were disappointed and we wanted to finish the season with a win.

“We came in at half-time and talked about the contact area and looking after the ball. We know we can play but without the ball you can’t do anything so that was the big thing.

“I was getting worried but the boys around me were calm, we still had 20 minutes and in rugby you can score points quick and it happened. The boys went out there and gave their all.”
