Hard work will lead to further honours

14th April 2016

Danny Wilson has told Ellis Jenkins that only hard work for Cardiff Blues will lead to an international call up.

The in-form flanker has been linked with a place on the plane to New Zealand for Wales’ summer tour following a fine season for his region.

Jenkins, a former Wales Under-20s captain, has made 18 first team appearances this season, scoring three tries and Wilson reckons he would rise to the challenge of stepping up in the Test arena.

He said: “He would first of all relish it, as you can imagine.

“He’s extremely competitive and a very good professional and potential leader. He has real leadership qualities and is a guy who has played really well for us recently.

“An open game is suited to him. He’s great both sides of the ball.

“He’s got the skill set to link up and like Tips (Justin Tipuric) he can play in attack and he can also be very destructive in defence, especially over the ball. He’s also a very bright, rugby knowledgeable player.

“But his feet are firmly on the ground, he’s got a lot of work to do and he knows that, but he’s working hard and moving in the direction. He knows hard work will lead to reward.”
