Danny Wilson is targeting three wins to keep Cardiff Blues' hopes of a top six finish alive in the Guinness PRO12.
Three consecutive triumphs, including a 28-22 victory at the Scarlets, has seen the Blues climb to eighth in the league and they trail Munster, who currently hold sixth spot, by five points.
They begin a thrilling culmination to the season with Sunday’s Welsh derby against Newport Gwent Dragons at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park (2.30pm), before a Judgement Day clash with the Ospreys and a trip to Edinburgh.
And head coach Wilson admits his side must claim a hat-trick of victories to give themselves the best chance of securing automatic qualification for the European Champions Cup with a top six finish.
Wilson said: “The Scarlets win has given us confidence to go away from home and win which we haven’t consistently proven this year.
“We have been great at home but we haven’t been as good and successful on the road. It gave us confidence that we can go and play a specific way and be successful.
“Moving into a period where we have must-win games if we are to give ourselves a chance of qualifying in the top six, but most importantly to win more derbies which is our goal, it’s given us confidence and belief.
“There are some big fixtures and some real tough calls to make, but I have focused on one objective and that’s three wins.
“You want to win every single game but derbies have that extras spice to them. We’ve just won one, and it would be an unbelievable achievement to win another two considering we have already won three.
“That would put us into a great position leading into a game against Edinburgh away, which is a tough place to go.
“That would give us the best chance possible (of a top six finish), we have to win three games but we’re taking each game as it comes especially because the first two are derbies.”
While Wilson’s men notched up a notable win over the Scarlets, the Dragons warmed up for the east Wales derby by securing their place in the European Challenge Cup semi-finals with victory over Gloucester.
The Blues took the spoils the last time the two sides met, with a 21-20 win at Rodney Parade in December, and Wilson expects another exciting encounter.
Wilson added: “To go to Kingsholm and a packed house in a European quarter-final against a fully-loaded Gloucester and win is quite an achievement and shows what the Dragons are capable of.
“They certainly haven’t been blown away by anybody, they have been in tight battles and have shown they can go away and win.
“It could be a really exciting game between two sides who have picked up two big results, two sides in form moving into what will be a decent afternoon weather-wise and on a surface both teams will want to play on.”
