Earle excited by future at Cardiff Blues

7th April 2016

New signing George Earle has spoken about his excitement about the move to Cardiff Blues next season - but vowed he has unfinished business at Scarlets before he heads to the Welsh capital.

Uncompromising second row forward Earle has put pen to paper on a deal to move to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park this summer.

South African born-lock Earle – now Welsh qualified – has enjoyed a four season spell at Scarlets where he has made 94 appearances and become renowned for the physical edge he brings to the side.

The 29-year-old, who has previously played for Cheetahs in Super Rugby, will join Kirby Myhill, Nick Williams, Matthew Morgan, Rhys Gill, Steve Shingler and Willis Halaholo as new faces next season.

And Earle admits the calibre of player being added to the squad at Cardiff Blues bodes well for the future.

“I’m excited about the move to Cardiff Blues and feel the change will be good for me,” he said.

“I know Danny Wilson from his time at the Scarlets, have spoken to him about his plans and he has made some big signings ahead of next year.

“It is great to see those players buy into the future and when you see that going on you know something is going right there.

“I have had a fantastic four seasons at Scarlets and I’m totally committed to the rest of this year as we push for a high finish in the Guinness PRO12,” he added.

“From next season it will be a tremendous honour for me to represent the Cardiff Blues and, as I have always done for Scarlets, I will give 110 per cent every time I pull on that jersey."
