Wilson: We face big champions challenge

4th March 2016

Head Coach Danny Wilson acknowledges his Cardiff Blues will come up against one of the 'best attacking teams' when they face Glasgow Warriors - but knows a win on the road would fire top six aspirations.

Cardiff Blues jet to Scotland and the Scotstoun Stadium to face league champions Glasgow Warriors in the Guinness PRO12 on Sunday (kick-off 2.30pm).

Wilson is aware of the challenge ahead for his young squad, but believes victory on the road would mean top six dreams could yet become a reality.

“The last league game with Ulster was a very important win for us and the manner in which we did it was pleasing,” he said.

“The effort and commitment from the players at home shone through again and it is something we need to build on away from home. Hopefully we can still challenge for a higher league position now.

“The boys have trained well and there is a really good feel to us,” he added. “The Ulster win has built confidence, but we are under no illusions as to how tough his away fixture is.

“We are going to one of the best attacking teams out there and the league champions.

“Playing them at their place is going to be tough, but it’s a great experience for a young squad and a real test for us.”
