Back row star Jenkins signs new deal

15th December 2015

Highly-rated back row Ellis Jenkins has today pledged his future to Cardiff Blues by signing a new long-term deal with the region.

Jenkins – regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Welsh rugby – has impressed throughout the current season with a number of eye-catching displays.

The 22-year-old – who captained Wales Under-20s to the runners-up spot in the Junior World Championships in France in 2013 – has made a total of 49 appearances for Cardiff Blues.

Head Coach Danny Wilson said: “Ellis has produced some fantastic rugby this season and continues to improve as a player.

“He is a local lad who has come through the system at Cardiff Blues and wants to be part of what we are building here over the coming years.

“There is a huge amount of competition for places in our back row. It is testament to Ellis and his attitude that he wants to prove himself here and work in that kind of challenging environment.

“I first recognised his undoubted talent when I worked with him for Wales Under-20s and so I am thrilled that Ellis is not only part of the squad here and we have now secured his long-term future.”
