Head Coach Danny Wilson admits he been pleased with the response from his players to defeat in Italy - as they prepare to return home after two months.
Cardiff Blues have not played at home since the start of September but will run out at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park this Saturday to face champions Glasgow Warriors in the Guinness PRO12 (kick-off 3pm).
And Wilson is expecting a response from his team after a ‘brutal’ analysis of the loss to Zebre.
“We have dealt with it (the defeat) in house; Monday was a brutal meeting of the performance,” he said.
“We have now drawn a line under it and the camp is upbeat, the players have come in and delivered some really good training sessions and I have been pleased with the response from them.
“The long-term project, as I have said on record a number of times, is to fix those kind of performances and we will get to that position. We will, though, take some pain along the way.
“We have talked about making long terms changes here and what is important to achieve that is that we front up and are accountable for our performances,” he added.
“Up until this point our performances have been admirable. As a group of players, I felt they put together some good stuff in tough venues away from home. But last weekend wasn’t that and we will endeavour to put it right.”
Wilson revealed his Welsh international trio of Gethin Jenkins, Sam Warburton and Alex Cuthbert were all pushing for places while Samoa star Rey Lee-Lo could make his debut after missing the game against Zebre.
“The internationals will be involved this weekend and selection will be announced later in the week, he said.
“Alex Cuthbert has been excellent since he’s been back. He has trained really well and is extremely enthusiastic about what we are doing.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him put the jersey on and play. I’m confident after what I’ve seen in training that he is going to be a big addition to the squad and will hopefully perform to the standard we all know he is capable of.”
