Davies: Blues ready for league resumption

6th February 2014

Director of Rugby Phil Davies revealed his Cardiff Blues are eager for the resumption of the RaboDirect PRO12 - as the region prepares for a defining month in the league.

Blues face Munster this Saturday in Ireland before back-to-back home games with Glasgow Warriors and Leinster Rugby and a trip to Zebre.

Davies admits it is crunch time for Blues as they look for a springboard up the league table.

However, buoyed by the manner of the try bonus point victory over cup champions Harlequins at the Arms Park last Friday, the Blues boss feels his team are fired up and ready for the challenges ahead.

“The squad is in good spirits with a good bit of momentum going into this game it’s a massive game for us,” said Davies

“Munster are a tough team they haven’t got a big number of international call ups meaning the consistency in the squad is good.

“The players we have now, although a lot of them are still very young, have had a lot of experience over the past 18 months together.

“This is a game we are very much looking forward to and we know we need some points to climb up the table and we have had a good European campaign this year. We also finished the LV on a high and this is the next key step for us.

“It’s a big challenge; it will be a good mark for us on Saturday to see how far we have developed.

“We want to go over there and play like we did in the second half of the Harlequins game, control the ball better and be more disciplined.

“We are hoping to give them a tough time.”
