We Remember the Fallen

7th November 2013

Cardiff Blues this evening remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. Remembrance Sunday this weekend will see people across our nation pause to reflect on the sacrifices by our brave service men and women.

Tonight all the players for Blues will be wearing a poppy logo on their jersey as a mark of respect ahead of Remembrance Sunday. This evening’s match day programme also has a poppy on the cover.

Meanwhile, Blues were pleased to recently show our continued support for the armed forces community when we became one of the first rugby club’s in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.

The covenant is a written and publicised voluntary pledge from ourselves to demonstrate our concrete support for the armed forces and how we recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our region. Blues already do discounted tickets for the military for selected games and plan to now strengthen our on-going support.

The document was signed by Rhys Blumberg, Head of Sales and Marketing at Blues, and Lt Col Neil Blenkinsop RLC, Commanding Office of the Welsh Transport Regiment RLC, ahead of the match between Blues and Benetton Treviso.
