Cardiff Summer of Festivals 2007

17th May 2007

Cardiff comes of age this summer with a hot line-up of family favourites, and a few fresh new ideas to really warm things up during the famous Summer Festival period.

21 years ago the Cardiff Festival was set up to deliver a feast of entertainment that would appeal across the board to all communities in Cardiff. Now the summer events programme attracts over half a million people to a variety of stunning locations in the city centre and the waterfront of Cardiff Bay.

These Cardiff Festivals take place throughout the summer, offering the very best of sport, street theatre, live music, youth and children’s entertainment, funfairs and drama, and feature annual favourites like the Lloyds TSB Welsh Proms Cardiff; the Cardiff International Food & Drink Festival; the Tesco Children’s Festival July; and the Mermaid Quay Cardiff Harbour Festival. There are also some exciting new additions this year with WOW On the Waterfront when the world’s finest street performers will gather in Roald Dahl Plass in the Bay to dazzle spectators; and this year’s Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend gets even bigger, so that as well as the UK’s largest traveling funfair in the Civic Centre, and a free live music stage on City Hall lawn, the event will include the Cardiff MAS Carnival.
